A fire spirit of mysterious origin, our heroine has an interesting design. Currently, her hair incorporates all the colors of a flame, her torso has a texture and style that resembles armor and her legs have the appearance of molten rock. Originally, we had her giving off a flame effect all the time, but then we realized she'd probably set the whole village on fire and we couldn't have that. Damaging flames will only be present during battles.
At first we considered having a main character that never spoke – she'd simply 'listen' to all the dialogue thrown at her. It didn't take long for us to feel that this was inadequate – we wanted her to have personality and we wanted the player to feel more involved. We decided that our main character would speak, but that her dialogue would not be chosen by the player. Though some of us enjoy branching narratives, we felt like such an endeavor was out of scope for our project.
The abilities of our main character are not finalized as of yet, but it is our hope to have her pick up new items throughout her journey and turn them into flaming weapons, almost like extensions of herself. Currently, she has the ability to dash, shoot fireballs, throw a fiery axe, or use a close-range melee attack.
